Zoom Travel Party

Image
Have you attended a Zoom Travel Party yet? Did you know that travel is a 10 million dollar industry in the U.S.? Hmmm...well, I guess it used to be before the pandemic. My sister and I were recently invited to attend a Zoom Party for our cousin’s new Travel Agency. I was looking forward to seeing my sister, aunt, and two cousins at the big event. The Facebook invitation promised games and prizes. I even washed my hair for the party.  After figuring out how to get on Zoom, I was ready! There were a few other new Travel Agents there too with their friends and family too. We started with a game to guess the names of songs followed by a Travel Trivia Quiz. Guess who won the quiz? Me! My sister said I have visited more countries than anyone else at the party. That is probably true. My mystery travel prize is in the mail. The party quickly turned into a sales meeting with a company video featuring big trophies. Then we learned about travel school online cou...

The Changing of the Guard Jan.20, 2021

Bye Don and Hello Joe! What a day it was! A world wide celebration with positive energy bouncing off the wall at the border of Mexico. I watched the TV coverage off and on while working at home toggling between Zoom meetings and a virtual presidential ceremony. It was truly a moment of hope and history. I was scared and relieved when the ceremony ended. I kept thinking something or someone was going to stop it all from happening. The 46th U.S. President Biden has been in politics forever. His educated wife Jill will continue to teach at the community college. They moved to the big white house to start a new chapter. I found it difficult to identify...

How is your new year going? I have decided to focus on what is going well in the world and what I can look forward to. My list is getting longer on the positives in my life. I am most looking forward to getting the COVID-19 vaccine so that life can return to normal, or at least a new normal. It looks like I will be returning to teach in the school with restrictions sooner than later. The vaccine is slowly being given to health care workers and over 70-year-olds in my new state of Nevada. Teachers have to be next!  My son John recommended that I listen to Cat Steven’s recent podcast that he made with his son. One of my first albums I bought in high school was “Tea for the Tillerman.” Now 50 years later, Cat has recorded the song, “Father and Son” again with his son. What goes around, comes around. Cat’s son had the cool idea of using young Cat’s voice for the son and Cat’s voice now for the father's part. It creates a time-lapse effect listening to Cat Stevens sing in voices 50 y...
