Hold On to Your Dreams 2021
How is your new year going? I have decided to focus on what is going well in the world and what I can look forward to. My list is getting longer on the positives in my life. I am most looking forward to getting the COVID-19 vaccine so that life can return to normal, or at least a new normal. It looks like I will be returning to teach in the school with restrictions sooner than later. The vaccine is slowly being given to health care workers and over 70-year-olds in my new state of Nevada. Teachers have to be next!
My son John recommended that I listen to Cat Steven’s recent podcast that he made with his son. One of my first albums I bought in high school was “Tea for the Tillerman.” Now 50 years later, Cat has recorded the song, “Father and Son” again with his son. What goes around, comes around. Cat’s son had the cool idea of using young Cat’s voice for the son and Cat’s voice now for the father's part. It creates a time-lapse effect listening to Cat Stevens sing in voices 50 years apart. The result is amazing and you can view the video here: https://catstevens.com/father-son/.
But take your time, think a lot
Think of everything you've got
For you will still be here tomorrow
But your dreams may not
I try to focus on my dreams each day. I have so much in my life that brings me happiness. It is too easy to focus on loss during the pandemic. We need to focus on our family and health. I don’t have new friends yet because we moved here during COVID-19. I have one teacher friend from almost ten years ago who lives in my new city. So we go on socially distant hikes around the area. I am looking to exploring more of the area after the vaccines are given. Life will return to a new normal.
Surprise! I just got an email asking me to sign up for my COVID-19 vaccination. I am so happy that I feel like I won the lottery. My husband registered us online in our city. He is waiting for his email to come. I chose a date and time online, then filled out a form to print and bring with me. They will set up my second appointment when I get the shot. Now I have to wait patiently for 11 more days...I can do it! I am looking forward to erasing the fear of catching the virus. I just have to stay patient, socially distant, and stay home as much as possible. I can do it! False alarm! We found out the first round of vaccines is only for age 72-year-olds and older here. I am glad that the elderly are getting vaccinated because they are at a vulnerable age. We will be patient. Our turn will come. Some people say it will take half a year to vaccinate everyone in the U.S. I am hoping for a speedy return to our new normal. Like Cat Stevens sang, “You may still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.”
Hear, hear!!
