Thank U Alanis!
Who says that 47 is too old to revive your career? Alanis Morisette is back on tour and I just saw her in concert! She has survived the past two years of postpartum depression, three children, weight gain, and a creative slump. Last night, she sang her heart out on stage at a huge arena in Las Vegas. She performed for two hours with nonstop songs. Then she returned with a long encore. Alanis has lost weight, dyed her hair blond, and still has a strong, beautiful, voice. She is a role model for rejuvenation during the pandemic. “Jagged Pill” is now a Broadway hit musical with a catalog of her songs. Originally from Canada, Alanis has a home base in Los Angeles and a fan base around the world.
What lessons can we learn from Alanis? She is spreading positivity, creativity, and has returned to the stage to share her music. She also wrote a song for her children and showed photos of them on the big screen as she sang. I could feel her positive energy in the last row of the huge sports facility. After singing a string of hits for over two hours, Alanis ended the concert with her perfect song, Thank U. As she sang, there were Twitter messages from her fans projected onto the stage screen. Thousands of fans thanked her on twitter@alanis. Her fan photos included thank yous for weddings, children, and love from followers around the world.
What can we do to support the people we interact with daily? We can also remember to say thank you throughout our busy days. Those two simple words touch others in ways that we can’t even imagine. Let’s take the time to ask how people are doing and actually listen to their answers. During the pandemic, there were many people struggling with worries. Sometimes just a kind smile or hug can make all the difference in their day. I tweeted a thank you to @alanis for a fantastic concert that brightened up my evening. She will never know how many lives she has touched with her magical songs. We never know the effect that we have on others who need a kind listener. We can lift up our spirits when we lift up others. Join Alanis today in a big ‘Thank U’ to everyone who crosses your path.
