Gather No Moss
Who mentioned they can’t get ‘no satisfaction? My husband and I were very satisfied to get first row tickets at ‘The Rolling Stones Concert’ live in Las Vegas! That’s what I call winning the ‘Golden Tickets’. I was up on my feet dancing the whole concert and got over 11,000 steps on my smartwatch. Mick Jagger has more energy at age 78 than me. He sang and danced non-stop like an energizer bunny for 150 minutes. We met a loyal Mick fan in the audience from our home state of Michigan. He said that a case of pandemic boredom has caused him to follow the Rolling Stones tour around the country. As a loyal fan, he wore the official concert T-shirt and told us the lineup of songs by heart. He also jumped up and down dancing all night blocking our view.
I read in the Las Vegas Newspaper that Mick Jagger spent the afternoon before his concert wandering around the old town area of Las Vegas. Apparently, he was not noticed by the general public. I wonder what Mick and his bodyguards wore for disguises. Mick visited a Neon Sign store just before it opened which surprised the owner. Mick was also spotted buying a burger for lunch. Protein power! While Mick was exploring the neighborhood, I was busy googling what to wear that evening to see him in concert. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one. Most of the audience was dressed in grey and black T-Shirts, jeans, and trendy sneakers to match. The audience lined up at the pre-show shop out the door and everyone left with Rolling Stones bags full of merchandise. It was worth the wait as the stadium filled to capacity. Mick danced and pranced around the stage while connecting to the crowd below. The band was projected onto large screens surrounding the stage so that even the crowd in the back bleachers could see him.
Mick sang all his hits, but saved my favorite song for the encore, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” I used to blast that song on my car radio in my old white Buick back in high school. I liked to pump the brakes to the lyrics as my friends screaming in the back seat. We all have memories linked to Rolling Stone songs. How does MIck, who was married only once, have so much energy? Now he is the father to eight children between the ages of 4-50 years old. How does he stay so fit with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren? What is his secret? He is like the ‘Eveready Battery’ bunny bopping around the stage nonstop.
What an amazing experience for the original band, new backup singer, and young replacement drummer to be performing onstage with Mick Jagger. I guess it's true that a rolling stone gathers no moss. We all need to keep moving and enjoy every moment in our lives. Forget your worries and dance instead. Life is too short and what will we remember in our rocking chairs? I will focus on songs by an iconic group performing in a new football stadium in Las Vegas. My dream to ‘Spend the Night Together with the Rolling Stones finally came true.
