Taylor Swift Tales
I tried to buy Taylor's concert tickets when they went on sale six months ago! I was on Ticketron for hours to buy tickets the first day with no luck! I was so frustrated that I wrote about it in my previous 'Betsy's Blog' titled "Please, Taylor, Please" on November 17, 2022, if you care to relive my angst. Well, anyways, my children listened to me rant and rave and even read my Blog. They rewarded me with a big Taylor Surprise yesterday! My daughter Sarah and son John got online to buy last-minute Taylor tickets all day long. Finally, Sarah found one ticket available for resale, bought it and called me up! She said I needed to to leave in half an hour for the Vegas Taylor Concert! I screamed and asked what should I wear? She said to wear a black sparkly shirt, my jean jacket, black jeans, and flat shoes that are better to climb bleacher steps. I wanted to wear my new black boots, but she was correct! Thank you Sarah and John for an amazing night with Taylor Swift in Vegas!
I saw many fans in uncomfortable high heels and tight, sequin dresses. One young man had on a shiny red sequin suit sitting in front of me. As fans entered the stadium, we were given wristbands that change colors with iridescent lights (see photo below). It made the stadium look like we were surrounded by fireflies in the dark. My bracelet is still flashing colors at home a day later. I wonder how long it will last!
Taylor was eloquent, introspective and a professional performer. Her multiple costume and set changes were spectacular. The back up dancers were upbeat and the band was having a lot of fun. They were all having a 'Tay-Tay' party onstage with 60,000 fans in a sports stadium if that is possible. Taylor talked to us like we were sitting in her living room as she performed songs from her teen years until now. She changed costumes to fit each time period. The crew even rebuilt Taylor's cabin from the 'Folklore' album for a set of her songs onstage. I loved her stories and remember watching her Folklore videos during the pandemic. Taylor is a professional performer, but still vulnerable. She is a natural storyteller who has the audience sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for the next song. Swift has a fun rapport with her dancers and band members onstage too. You can tell they are all enjoying their big tour.
There were all ages of Swiftie fans in the audience from children to grandmas just having a great time. During the concert, we were on our feet dancing, singing, and enjoying Taylor Swift! My children would have been so embarrassed! One little girl near me danced the first half of the concert and then slept the rest of it. I really wanted a Taylor T-shirt and waited in the merchandise line for hours before the concert with no luck. I read in the news that the Taylor merchandise venue opened at noon and had long lines all day. The store closed while I was in line because the concert was beginning. However, I had a plan when the concert was over! I ran out at the end of the concert straight to the store and was first in line to buy a Taylor Concert T-shirt. My persistence was rewarded!
I met more Swiftie fans in the mob walking back to the parking garage. We all carried bags of Taylor merch and raved about the concert. Turns out we were even parked next to each other. Serendipity! A little Taylor Magic! Guess I am now an official 'Swiftie Fan'! I am still feeling the after 'Taylor Glow' and just want to sit and listen to her music all day. I'm sure I'm not the only one!
