Drew Barrymore Live in NYC!

How did my sister Anne and I end up sitting in the front row at  'The Drew Barrymore Show"? Well, if you know someone who knows somebody who has connections in New York City, then it's easy! Our adventure began on a cold, windy afternoon outside the 'Drew' studio in Midtown Manhattan. We waited in a long line as the 'Drew Crew' checked our tickets. Luckily, we had VIP tickets and were escorted into the VIP Waiting Room where we took photos in front of the Drew Wall. Finally, it was time to go into the studio and sit in our front-row red swivel chairs. The Stage Manager came up and asked us who we know to get these seats? We laughed and said we know somebody who knows somebody on the show. When Drew finally arrived, she sat on the stage steps in front of us to give her opening monologue. There were bodyguards everywhere and no cell phones were allowed.
We watched the crew prepare the kitchen set, the news desk, and the living room. Drew filmed three segments in 90 minutes. There were huge cameras on wheels, more hanging from the ceiling, and a stage crew in black. A Social Media crew used iPhones to post photos online. As the lights dimmed, the Stage Manager reminded us to stay seated and gave us signals when to clap and cheer. We were super cheerleaders as Drew arrived in style dressed in a black pantsuit, silk maroon blouse, and high-heeled black sandals. She greeted us with a big smile and a sincere welcome. Drew said how happy she was to have all of us there and talked about how she started the show virtually during the Pandemic. I was in her studio audience from my living room with Zoom. Drew chatted with the crew and ensured that everything was ready before the cameras began rolling with the Daily News followed by a live interview with a third-grade teacher who she has taught for 50 years. Cut! Then Drew walked to the kitchen set where a chef made her a gourmet burger. Drew stayed on set until she finished her burger. She told us how much she likes the cooking segments and doesn't just take one bite. Then Drew interviewed 25-year-old Peyton List from the TV show, Cobra Kai. She was also a child actress in '27 Dresses' and 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid.' Drew continued to talk with Payton during the commercial break. I'm sure they have a lot in common.
The show will be split into three dates. At the end of the filming, Drew returned to center stage and talked to the audience off the air. She had conversations with a single female who teaches overseas, a married couple of over 30 years, and a single woman looking for a boyfriend. Drew asked her to write down her contact info and offered to set her up on a blind date. Then Drew thanked us all for coming with a sincere smile and a wave. Wow, and Double Wow! We left the show spellbound and are now Drew Fans forever!
