California Dreaming! π
The final stop of our backpacking adventure! We began and ended the trip in Los Angeles, California. We are happy to see again our two children and three grandchildren that live here. Our visit started with a little bit of drama!☺
Our son's house smelled like gas upon arrival. It filled the kitchen and seemed to come from the refrigerator. First, he called the repair man who said it was fine and suggested calling the hot water heater repairman next. Then he arrived and said it was fine and suggested calling an exterminator.
Mystery solved! A coyote probably chased a skunk under the house and it still smells days later. At least the mystery was solved!
Meanwhile, we're having fun with our three LA grandchildren. They keep us busy with after school activities. They are fun to talk to and like to share school stories. Today I went to the middle school orientation for our oldest grandson who starts Grade 6 next Fall.
We celebrated 'National Walk to School Day.' We had all the sidewalks to ourselves. Where was everybody? Maybe they missed the news flash! Lots of car drop offs instead.
Later, my daughter and I stopped for gourmet coffee and breakfast rolls at an upscale market, 'Erewhon'. It is known to be the place for celebrities to shop. We saw a popular, young actress Kaitlyn Edever shopping in her yoga pants and hair in a messy bun. She leisurely walked through the aisles and no one asked for an autograph.
Next we wandered around the outdoor mall full of trendy stores and restaurants. The "UOVO" restaurabt serves their parmasian cheese by shaving it off a big wheel into your Italian dish at the table.
Movie Night was fun under the stars at their school. RJ sold popcorn and Emma sat with her friends on the lawn. We enjoyed the fundraiser watching "The Nightmare Before Christmas."
When in LA, go to a play! So we drove downtown to the theatre where we saw "Hadestown." We enjoyed a musical adaptation of the Orpheus Greek myth.
I was lucky to attend my 3 year old granddaughter's ballet class. She wore the standard black leotard and pink tights. It was super cute and fun!
The studio was in the shopping center where they filmed the 1989 music video "Free Fallin".
Then we had a healthy lunch of avocado toastπ₯ salad and Mediterranean Salad. We sat outside at a patio table in the sunshine. It was fun to catch up with my daughter and her daughter for a three year generation meal in sunny LA. π ❤️ We watched the paparazzi walk up and down Sunset Boulevard in LA. They were dressed down in faded, baggy jeans and Tshirts with big cameras slung over their shoulders. They slowed down at our restaurant scanning the terrace, but passed on. I guess we didn't look famous enough! Only in LA! California Dreaming!
