Technology Crash

I didn't choose to have both my phone and computer crash on the the same day! However, that is what happened and now I am experiencing 'tech withdrawal.'A week ago, my phone screen began flickering yellow before it completely shut down. Within hours, my laptop crashed and then refused to turn back on. It was scary to lose two electronic devices in one day. I put my overheated laptop outside to sit in the cold, winter air for an hour. Then it suddenly restarted! Thank goodnesss! I am now using it to write this Blog. I had to mail my phone back to the dealer who is now repairing it under warranty. I am holding my breath! Our daily lives revolve around checking phones and laptops constantly for messages, emails, social media, movies and more. I must admit I feel a bit isolated without my phone. I didn't realize how much I relied on it until it stopped working a week ago. So what am I doing with my extra time? I'm reading my Kindle books, watching TV, cooking and making Zoom calls from my laptop. I worry that someone can't reach me on my phone and that I will miss an important call! I hope they leave me a message. I have to realize that life goes on whether I have a phone or not. I am definitely suffering from 'missing out' on the recent news and social media. I also feel insecure venturing out into the world without my phone. I keep reaching for it instintively to check my emails and to take photos. Last night, we went to the vintage area of Las Vegas on Fremont Street. There were clowns on stilts, jugglers and an Elvis impersonator. People were bundled up in winter coats watching the entertaining street performers. I wanted to take some photos, but didn't have my phone. Instead, I just relaxed and enjoyed the moment. Not every event needs to be captured for Social Media. I came home and wrote this Blog instead and found an old photo on my computer to add to it. I admit that I still feel the urge to check my phone constantly. I guess I'll just open up an old school hardback book and read it instead. I could call up my friends and make plans. Wait, I can't call them without a phone! Oh well, I guess I'll have to clean the house instead or sort through old boxes in the garage. Fun! Have I been using my phone to avoid these household tasks? Yes, indeed! Now I am experiencing technology withdrawal. I hope my phone arrives in the mail tomorrow. Stay tuned!
