Bloom where you are planted!
Guess what I learned recently...wine is the purest food. It is 100% grapes with no water allowed. My husband and I recently visited a local winery and learned some fun facts. What do you think is the #1 Wine city in the U.S.? Washington D.C.! Are you surprised? I am. Did you know that two gallons of wine are made from only one gallon of grapes? I learned this information from a local owner of a winery located in the middle of the desert. The night before his Winery opened, wild mustangs came and totally destroyed his vineyard. It made the news and the owner was interviewed on ‘Good Morning America’ about his unusual opening day. A California winemaker saw the interview and offered him his leftover vat of wine to start up his new winery. Now his desert vineyard is thriving with a cafe and shop too.
Bonjour! We also visited a French Bakery in this same little desert town. It was filled with fresh French treats in the middle of nowhere. The croissants tasted like they were from Paris. I asked the French owner how she ended up living in the middle of nowhere. She laughed and said she didn’t know. Her husband retired and found this town on the Internet. Voila! Now she owns a bakery and keeps everyone in town happy with French treats.
These stories have the common theme of “Bloom where you are planted.” I think about this daily. When things get tough, we have to find ways to succeed. What do we want out of each day? I recently read that we need four hugs a day to survive. How many hugs do you get daily? It is complicated now by COVID 19. We are giving lots of ‘air hugs’, but they aren’t really the same. Think of the difference you can make in someone’s life with just a simple hug.
Dog trainers are getting more business due to the pandemic too. Dogs are scared of each other and humans now due to COVID 19. Dogs are isolated and not used to being in public. This aligns with more business for psychologists and psychiatrists. Doctors are asking patients now how they are coping and how much alcohol they are drinking daily. This brings us back to the fact that wine is the purest food. Too much of anything is not good. Too much sugar and fat are unhealthy for us too. It’s all about the portions. Laughter, love, and hugs are healthy with unlimited portions. So take a moment today to give these free, caring gestures to those you come in contact with today. You might just feel a little bit better too.
